The Bee Effect

Partnering with The Bee Effect to plant Trees for Bees 🌳🐝

At Southern Gold Honey, we’ve always believed that honey should do more than just taste good — it should do good. From supporting local beekeepers to protecting the pollinators who make it all possible, our mission is grounded in harmony with nature.

That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce our partnership with The Bee Effect — a South African initiative with a buzzing mission to drive bee awareness and build pollination power through sustainable programmes.

Through their Trees for Bees Project, The Bee Effect plants bee-forage trees that help provide essential nectar and pollen sources for pollinators, especially during critical flowering seasons. These aren’t just any trees — they’re hand-picked indigenous species that align with seasonal forage gaps, ensuring bees have the right food at the right time. It’s smart, science-backed, and rooted in real change.

One Tree for Every 25kg Sold

Here’s how it works:
For every 25kg of honey we sell, we plant a tree through the Trees for Bees program. Simple as that. So every time you enjoy a spoonful of Southern Gold Honey, you’re not only supporting local, sustainable beekeeping — you’re helping grow the very ecosystems that bees depend on.

It’s a circle of life, and you’re at the heart of it.

Why It Matters

South Africa’s honeybee populations are under increasing pressure from habitat loss, changing weather patterns, and monoculture farming. Trees like the ones planted through this project provide both nutrition and safe forage zones for pollinators — crucial for their survival and the health of our planet.

By supporting The Bee Effect Trees for Bees Project, we’re not just giving back — we’re helping build a more resilient pollination system that supports biodiversity, food security, and the long-term viability of South African agriculture.
