Ordering & Payments

Do you sell directly to individuals?
Yes! While we’re still focused primarily on bulk and wholesale, individuals are more than welcome to order honey from us through our website. Please note that shipping costs apply, unless you're based in Durbanville or nearby—we deliver for free in those areas.

How do I order?

  • For small orders: Simply order through our website.

  • For bulk orders (25kg or more): Please contact us directly. We'll help you structure your order and delivery.

What payment methods do you accept?

  • For general website orders: Yoco (credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, EFT, etc.).

  • For bulk orders: Bank-to-bank transfer only.


Delivery & Fulfilment

How long will my order take to arrive?
Orders are typically fulfilled within five (5) business days after payment confirmation.

Can I track my order?
Not yet—but it’s coming soon. For now, we’ll confirm manually once your order has been dispatched.

Can I collect my order instead of having it delivered?
Yes, we offer pickups by arrangement, especially for local customers. Just select or request pickup during checkout or when chatting to us.


Product Questions

Is your honey raw?
Absolutely. We gently warm our honey to 40°C, which is the same temperature hives naturally reach. This keeps the honey raw and full of enzymes, nutrients, and flavour.

Why is there foam or bubbles at the top of my jar?
That’s completely normal—it's just trapped air from the bottling process. It doesn't affect the quality or safety of the honey at all.

Why does honey crystallise? Can I still eat it?
Yes, crystallisation is completely natural and actually a sign of pure, raw honey. For more, read our blog post: Why Does Honey Crystallise?

Is your honey tested or certified?
Yes. Our honey is scientifically tested and certified in Germany to ensure it’s raw, pure, and free of adulterants or irradiation. View test results here.


Returns & Issues

Can I return or exchange honey?
Yes, we offer returns or exchanges in these cases:

  • Crystallised honey (if you’d prefer it smooth)

  • Contamination or damage in transit

  • Major quality issues

Please note: natural pollen particles may be present in raw honey and are not a cause for return.

Do you really plant one tree for every 25kg sold?
We do! With our conservation partner, The Bee Effect, we plant one tree for every 25kg of honey sold. It’s our way of giving back to nature.

Where is your honey from?
All of our honey is 100% local, sourced from ethical South African beekeepers. We do not import honey, and all our products are non-irradiated.

Do you work with small beekeepers?
Yes—enthusiastically. We partner with passionate, small- to medium-scale beekeepers.

Can I become a stockist?
We’d love that. Please reach out via contact@southerngoldhoney.co.za and we’ll send you our wholesale info.

Do you offer branded or custom labels?
Yes—we specialise in co-branded and custom label designs. Whether you're a café, retailer, or fundraiser, we can create something beautiful together.
