Jeandré Voges

Swartland Region

In 2023, Jeandré officially began his journey as a beekeeper, establishing and managing the beekeeping division on his family farm in the Swartland region.

Jeandré is primarily a pollination beekeeper, dedicating most of his time to moving and managing hives across farms to support crop production. His bees play a vital role in ensuring healthy yields for local growers, making pollination the heart of his beekeeping work.

Today, Jeandré oversees around 350 production swarms, each one playing its part in the rhythm of nature — producing honey, pollinating crops, and keeping the region’s farmlands thriving. His work involves a careful balance of maintaining hive health, optimizing productivity, and aligning every practice with modern agricultural and environmental standards.

Beekeeping has become an integral part of the broader farming operation, not just boosting crop yields but also strengthening biodiversity across the surrounding landscape.

Looking ahead, Jeandré’s focus is on expanding his pollination services, partnering with local growers to improve crop performance and promote sustainable farming practices throughout the Western Cape. It’s a vision that connects bees, farmers, and the land in a way that benefits everyone — nature included.

At Southern Gold, we’re proud to play a small part in that vision. By ensuring that Jeandré is paid more than fairly for his honey, he doesn’t have to worry about selling or marketing it himself. Instead, he can dedicate his time to what he does best — caring for his bees, nurturing pollination across farms, and helping our planet thrive. Every jar of his honey tells that story of harmony — between farmer, bee, and the land they both depend on.
