Gerhardus Moolman
Gerhardus Moolman’s journey into beekeeping began in 2021, when he started working on a bee farm and discovered a profound passion for bees and their environment. This hands-on experience inspired him to start his own apiary, which has since grown to around 80 hives. Gerhardus brings his dedication to sustainable beekeeping and natural honey production to communities throughout the Western Cape.
For Gerhardus, beekeeping is not just a job; it’s a way of life. Watching experienced beekeepers work with such care and respect for the bees left a deep impression on him and sparked a sense of harmony and purpose. This joy and connection to nature is what drives Gerhardus each day, as he single-handedly manages his hives and produces honey that reflects his values.
Gerhardus's bees thrive just outside Durbanville, surrounded by a diverse landscape that provides a rich variety of nectar sources. With access to Bluegum trees, seasonal canola fields, and other multifloral sources, his hives produce honey that captures the unique character of the region.
Southern Gold Honey’s dedication to sustainability, farmer support, and bee conservation aligns perfectly with Gerhardus's values.
